Medicaid enrollment process changes to single month in Ohio

Buckeye Community Health Plan is gearing up for Medicaid’s open enrollment period in November. This marks the first time that Ohio’s 1.5 million Medicaid-eligible residents will have a single open enrollment. More information about this new Medicaid enrollment process can be found calling the Managed Care Enrollment Center at 1-800-605-3040 (TTY 1-800-292-3572).

November has been designated as the statewide annual open enrollment month by The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services’ (ODJFS’) Bureau of Managed Care for the Aged, Blind or Disabled (ABD) and Covered Families & Children (CFC) programs for Medicaid recipients.

In the past, the annual open enrollment periods for both programs had been staggered throughout the year in the eight state-designated regions in which the two programs operate. The state hopes the single open enrollment timeframe will eliminate confusion among Medicaid eligibles.

Buckeye has distributed plan information to all CFC and ABD eligibles in its regions to remind those people about open enrollment and to promote Buckeye as an option. The health plan will also participate in health fairs and other community activities throughout November to provide eligible residents with more information.
